Carroll C. McComas, age 86, of Fallston, Maryland passed away on October 29, 2020 at his home. Born in Towson, Maryland, he was the son of William Alexander and Helen Elizabeth (Cooper) McComas and husband of 58 years to Carolyn (Burchard) McComas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served honorably in the Air Defense Command, 97th Interceptor squadron, and was discharged in 1956.

Carroll graduated from the University of Baltimore in 1960 with a BS degree in Industrial Management. He began working for Baltimore County in the Office of Personnel in 1962. He was regularly promoted and retired in 1992 as the Director of Personnel. He served for 15 years with the Baltimore County Employees Federal Credit Union – 10 of them as President of the Board of Directors. He chaired the Advisory Board for Harford County and served six years on the Harford County Board of Education Ethics Panel. He was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus at St. John's in Long Green and a Baltimore Chapter President. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, was elected Faithful Navigator, served as Warden to the State Deputy, was appointed District Deputy, and was elected a Delegate to the Supreme Convention. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Forest Hill and a former member of St. Marks Catholic Church in Fallston and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hydes. Carroll enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, following sports, and was an avid reader. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and The Elks.

In addition to his wife, Carroll is survived by daughter, Kelly (Howard) Scarff ; two sons, Kevin (Kristie) McComas and Mark (Melody) McComas; sister, Nancy (Jack) Gerding; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth (David) Beck, Charles, Caroline, and Margaret Scarff, Kristina and Megan McComas, Will (Stephanie) McComas and Jake (Leandra) McComas; four great-grandchildren, Hamilton, Margaret Grace, Wells, and Jameson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William (Lefa) and James Elmer (Shirley)McComas.

Visitation will be held at the McComas Funeral Home, Bel Air, MD on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 3:00-6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 5 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Forest Hill, Maryland at 11 am. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery.
