Sadly, we report to you about the passing of our dear Martyn Bell. Martyn was the husband of Marcia Waggoner, they were married for 31 wonderful years living in La Quinta, California. He leaves behind his sons Bruce, Corey and Bryan and daughters Margaret, Stephanie, Stacia and Dana, and his brother Steward Bell. Together they enjoyed 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Martyn was born in 1942 in Finchley, England. His family immigrated to Canada when he was 12 years old. After Martyn graduated from high school he and his family moved to the USA. Martyn proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and then trained to be a police officer. He was a proud public servant and started his career as a motorcycle policeman in Oregon. Martyn moved to California and served in the Arcadia and the Tehachapi police department. He finished his career as a California Highway Patrolman. Martyn and Marcia met in Ontario, California. He loved R.V. traveling, nature and the great outdoors. He was actively involved with his children in 4-H Club, and he raised golden retrievers. Martyn was a quiet man who loved his family, his work and helping others. A special man and loving husband and father. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family. Graveside service will take place Wednesday, April 24, 2019, 9:30 AM at Coachella Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Martyn’s Bell’s name to the Eisenhower Memory Care Center, 42201 Beacon Hill, Suite A, Palm Desert, CA 92211-5121. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of FitzHenry-Wiefels.
