Tom Brown was my paternal grandfather.
Papa Tom was in in the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War. The planes that dropped bombs would take off and land from his ship.
He owned a Harley Davidson and loved to ride it. He had a lot of biker friends. They were good bikers, not tough ones like the reputations of some bikers. They used to do a food drive every year and a toy drive at Christmas, both for families that didn't have a lot. Papa Tom and his wife, Diana, would organize these drives and things were dropped off at their house. They also used to give out real sized candy bars at Halloween, not little ones.
I didn't know Diana and neither did my mom. But she ment a lot to my Daddy because his real mom was adusive to him and Diana was nice. She is buried with Papa Tom.
Papa Tom worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for a long time, like 25 or 30 years. My Daddy was born in North Platte Nebraska-Rail Town USA-where the biggest railroad yards in the world are.
Papa Tom was a good man who liked to ride his motorcycle, play with his dogs, and go fishing. He used to take fishing trips to Canada. He made really good homemade beef jerkey and was a good card player too. He was kind and decent and honest and a hard worker. I wish I had known him better. He means a lot to me because I didn't know my Daddy well either.
Thank you for reading this and leaving something for my Papa Tom. Please leave a flower for my daddy, Thomas Brown Jr. if you have time.
Thanks
