At the residence of his son, R. H. Day, on December 4th, John Day, aged 88 years, 8 months and 11 days.
John Day was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, was married to Mary Vanatta, December 30, 1823, by whom he had six children, four dying in early life; R. H. Day being the only one surviving. Was converted and united with the Baptist Church in 1843, removed to Iowa where he joined the United Brethern Church, there not being any Baptist Church near. For nearly twenty years he has been totally blind, and during all these years bore his great affliction with Christian resignation and longing to depart and be with Christ. He prayed for his aged companion who still lingers upon the shores of time, that God would sustain her in her loneliness until they meet again on the Eternal shores.
