Nicholas was born on February 3, 1923 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late Andrew and Mary (Kiszinowski) Poliski. He attended McKinley School up to the 8th grade. Nicholas served in the United States Coast Guard serving during WWII in the Pacific Campaign on the USS Alhena. He married Evelyn Huskey on September 12, 1945 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3676 and the N.R.A. Nicholas loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings. He was a carpenter in the Local Union 46 and later became the business agent. Nicholas was one of the first carpenters to work on the Mackinac Bridge, as well as one of the last upon it’s completion.
Nicholas is survived by three children: Charlene (Ed) Murphy of Lansing, MI, Mick Poliski of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and Charles Poliski of Florida; seven grandchildren: Chris, Andy, Michael, Nikki, Carrie, Nick and Mindy; and nineteen great grandchildren.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Evelyn Poliski, and two sons: Robert Poliski and Michael Poliski. He was also preceded in death by one hunting partner: Paul Bergeron.
According to Nicholas’ wishes, no public services will be held.
