Charles K. Bryan, 72, of Mesa, a loving husband, and father, went on his final rafting trip to be with the Lord on Feb. 10. He was born in Green County, Iowa on Jan. 27, 1935, to Shirley E. Bryan and Muriel Ruth Bryan. He went most of his life by the nickname "Chick." He attended school in Bayard, Iowa. After graduation, he moved to Phoenix, Ariz. to work in carpentry. He was drafted into the U.S. Army; after training, he served in Germany for two years. Upon returning home to Scranton, Iowa, he started building homes in Redfield, Iowa. That is where he met the love of his life, Betty Lou Dickson. They were married in 1961. Survivors names omitted per findagrave policy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Muriel Bryan; brother, Harold Bryan; sister, Marjorie McCormick; and great-grandson Ethan Protz. Throughout the year's Chick enjoyed racing go-carts, riding motorcycles, golfing, and bowling, but later in life his greatest passions were spending time with his family, going rafting, camping, fishing, horse racing, and sharing novels.
