Billy Ray Goodson, 81, of Oceana, WV passed away on Tuesday November 3, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
He was born on February 19, 1939 in Monroe County, WV to the late William "Willie" Thomas Goodson (1908-1981) and and Lottie Mae Harrah-Goodson (1910-1977). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta White-Goodson (1941-Deceased) whom he married on June 24, 1957 in Oceana, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1957, Page 63, Application Date: June 15, 1957); a daughter, Sandra Lynn Goodson (1967-1967); and two sisters, Genetta Frances Goodson-Honaker (1944-2013) and Elzena "Zena" Goodson-Adkins (1934-2010).
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Goodson-Snyder & husband Keith Snyder of Mocksville, NC and Shari Goodson-Stone of Oceana; a son, Donnie Goodson & wife Melissa Goodson of Oceana; three sisters, Margaret Goodson-Duggr-Parker & husband Butch Parker of Beckley, Louella Goodson-Willis of Beckley, and Emma Goodson-Whitecotton & husband Tommy Whitecotton of Cleveland, OH; two brothers, Carl Goodson & wife Dorothy Goodson of Cyclone, and Willie "Keaton" Goodson of Cleveland, OH; four grandchildren, Adam Logsdon, B. J. Logsdon, Austin Morgan and Kyle Goodson; four great grandchildren, Blake Morgan, L. J. Logsdon, Tyson Morgan and one due in January 2021; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 1:00 pm until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated following the service and laid to rest beside his wife in Cook Cemetery, Lynco, WV.
