Edward J. Barry, 87, of Worcester passed away peacefully Monday, May 16, 2016 after a period of declining health.

Edward is survived by his sister-in-law, Lena D. Barry and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents James T. and Mary E. (Wilson) Barry; two sisters, Rosemary J. Gorr & Elizabeth Berthiaume and a brother, James E. Barry.

Edward was born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and proudly served his Nation in the United States Army during the Korean War. Edward was a retiree from Holmes Transportation Inc and he attended Catholic masses at Saint John's and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Worcester. Edward was an avid reader and he also enjoyed traveling. He had an appreciation for the performing arts including music and the theatre and a passion for the culinary arts as well.

On Saturday, June, 11th at 7:15 p.m. the Mass will be offered for Edward at SAINT JOHN'S CHURCH, in Worcester. A Prayer Service will be held for Ed on Sunday, June 12th at 6 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 PLANTATION ST., WORCESTER, MA. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Edward's name to: Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607; http://shfc.convio.net or to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105; https://www.stjude.org .
