The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Monday, October 7, 1996, at 1100 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church in Essexville. Jerry will lie in state in the church chapel Monday after 10:00 am Rev Michael Wolf will preside, with the graveside Committal Rite following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Vigil Wake Service is Sunday at 7:30 pm in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association. Visiting hours are Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 pm and 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the W A Trahan Funeral Home.

Louis G Jerry Karner, age 78 years died at 7:30 pm Thursday, October 3, 1996, in Bay Medical Care Facility. He was born to Joseph and Elizabeth Hennsey Karner on May 1 1918 in bay County where he resided all his life. Jerry was a graduate at Annapolis and an operating engineer for forty years retiring in 1980. He served our county as a medic in the Naval Marines during WWII. Jerry also farmed in Hampton Township for fifty years. He was a member of the Essexville Knights of Columbus Fr VanoRooy Council #2740.
Surviving family members include four children, Gerald (Diane) Karner of Bay City, Colin (Donna) Karner of Mancelona, Dennis (Linda) Karner of Treasure Island, FL., and Karen (Al) Michalk of Caro eight grandchildren a sister Babura (Wally) Hagers of Essexville. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Karner five brothers. Joe, Edward, Bernard, Jack, and Bill Moose Karner along with a sister Monica (John) DeFresne.
