Jonann “Annie” Lynn Synar, 47, of Warner, Oklahoma, eased comfortably into her afterlife Monday, November 9, 2020, with family at her bedside while under Emerald Hospice care.
Following a tragic accident nine years previous leaving Annie unable to move, 24/7 in-home care was provided by her parents. This extraordinary quality care was managed by Stephanie Weston and was interrupted frequently by dozens of hospitalizations to resolve a multitude of ongoing health issues.
Most recently, Annie was treated seven weeks at Ft. Smith Baptist Hospital for infection followed by sepsis then discharged to home with a recommendation to consider hospice care. All family members were included in this discussion. The outcome was Annie's declaration of exhaustion and readiness to accept the palliative care offered; this care was initiated by Billy Terrell, RN, through Emerald. Joel Powell, the hospice spiritual advisor, met with family members, giving special attention to her two children. Some of Annie's cousins, aunts and uncles, visited during this three-week period. All were able to provide support and love in these final days. Of course, it was Annie who gave the most love and support to all who were making the adjustment to her personal choice.
Jonann was born on October 1, 1973 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She attended Warner Public Schools, graduating in 1991. Her mother remembers “always buying new dresses” because Annie was football queen, basketball queen, and so many other “queens.” She was always in need of a new formal gown. This same year, she married Mike Steen. From that union was prematurely born a daughter, Logan.
Jonann completed studies at Northeastern State University February 23, 2006, which earned Oklahoma Licensure for Massage Therapy. She practiced privately for twelve years. During this time, from a union with Clay Nichols, a son, Cash Robert, was born.
Jonann is survived by her children Logan Rana Steen and Cash Robert Nichols of the home; a brother Frank Jason Synar of Warner; and parents Barbara Jean and John Wayne Synar of Warner. Family was all important, and all the above live within three miles of each other. A multitude of cousins, aunts and uncles are scattered throughout the United States.
Annie LIVED THE GOLDEN RULE. She loved life, her children, her Nan, Pap, and brother. Jonann was gracious to a fault through the endless generosity of her giving spirit to anyone in need of comfort. After the accident, paralyzed from chin to feet, she continued to parent, guide, teach, and organize the care of her family and home.
A graveside service led by Joel Powell will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 2 PM in Warner Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be sent to Bedouin Shrine Temple, at 201 S. 6th St. W., Muskogee, Oklahoma, 74401
