He was born the son of Milo and Helena Swanson Banks.
He married Judy Howland in 1971. He later Married vicki Garman Kuhlman.
Also surviving are daughters Laura (Cory) Lee of Alexis,
Kari (David) Caldwell of Galesburg, and Rebecca Lisenbee of Galesburg; a brother, Merle (Sandy) Banks of Galesburg.He was preceeded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Galesburg High School.
He served in the United States Navy in Pearl Harbor, the Western Pacific, and Vietnam. He received the National Defence Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
He worked for Lee Brothers Welding and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in Galesburg, retiring earlier this year.
He resided in Arizona from 1983 until 1991, and Arizona remained dear to his heart.
He was an avid race fan and built modified race car chassis. He loved history and enjoyed reading about the old West, the history of aviation and construction. His skill as a metal fabricactor was well known and admired by many.
Military rites will be conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion post 285 of Galesburg. Inurnment will be later.
