Catherine Astone, (nee Barrett), 89, of Westfield, N.J., passed away on November 13, 2020.
Arrangements by Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at St. Michaels Church in Union on Wednesday, November 18, at 10:15 a.m. Interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, N.J.
Born in Newark, N.J., Catherine was raised in North Arlington, N.J., lived in Union for 64 years after marrying her husband, Alex, and then recently to Westfield.
Catherine received her nursing degree at Hackensack Hospital. She worked as a nurse for over 40 years. She started her career at Presbyterian Hospital, before taking a position as the nursing supervisor at the North Jersey Blood Center where she worked for over 30 years.
In her free time, Catherine loved traveling with her beloved husband, Alex, and spending quality time with family and friends. She took her grandchildren on adventures, often to the Poconos and the Jersey Shore. She volunteered at St. Michaels Church in Union.
She was the beloved wife of the late Alex Astone; father of Michael Astone and his wife, Janice, Patrick Astone and his wife, June, Catherine De Luca and her husband, Michael, and the late Thomas Astone. She was survived by her daughter-in-law, Roxanne. She was the sister of Joseph Barrett, and the late Margaret Wysocki. She is lovingly known as "Ganny" by her grandchildren, A.J., KateLynn, Laura, and Bridget.
She was loving, full of heart, and will be dearly by all.
