Born in Worcester, March 1, 1925, the son of Cornelius J. Lucey Sr. and Mary Bella (Shea) Lucey. Neal, a graduate of St. John's High School, was an entrepreneur and philanthropist, supporting many area charities. He was especially committed to education including generous support for St. John's High School, Notre Dame Academy and College of the Holy Cross.
While serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Mr. Lucey met and married his late wife of 56 years, Miriam Bradford Lucey. Together with his wife, he founded the following companies, Euro-American Air Freight Forwarding Company, Central New England Warehouse, Progressive Shippers Cooperative Assn., MNLCJL, LLC and others. He also co-owned the Grafton and Upton Railroad, Torco Company and the LP ATHOL Corporation.
Neal was past president of the New England Traffic Assn. and the Boston Traffic Assn. and was a member of the Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity and the Knights of Columbus. He was a longtime member of the International Golf Club in Bolton, Mass. and a charter member of the President's Council at the College of the Holy Cross.
