MRS. W. S. GORSUCH
Altho in poor health for several years Mrs. W. S. Gorsuch, a very fine matron of the Dry Creek district, had been about her home as usual until last Tuesday when she was taken suddenly ill and all efforts to bring relief were unavailing. She died at the Delta hospital last Saturday morning. Rosalie Davis was born January 4, 1864. near Indianapolis, Indiana, and departed this life April 11, 1936, being at the time of death 72 years, 3 months and 7 days of age. When a small child the family moved to Illinois and in 1878 to Kansas, where she grew to womanhood. March 25th, 1885, she was united in marriage to Wallace Scott Gorsuch at Concordia. Kansas. She came to Delta county with her husband and children in 1899 and has resided for 37 years here, practically all that time on Dry Creek east of Cedaredge. To Mr. and Mrs. Gorsuch were born five children: Elmer, of Cedaredge, Mrs. Virginia Nelson of Climax, Colo., Homer of Bayfield. Colo., Scott D. of Climax, and Ruth, another daughter who preceded the mother to the Great Beyond. Others surviving in addition to the husband and children are three sisters, Mrs. F. C. Freshour of Dry creek. Mrs. J. D. Hakes of near Delta, and Mrs. Amspaker of Blasco, Kansas; three brothers, Emmott Davis of Carmen, Oklahoma., Earl Davis of Concordia. Kan. and O. C. Davis of Dry creek; and nine grandchildren. Mrs. Gorsuch was a devout Christian woman and an earnest student of the Bible. In her last sickness she often spoke of her faith in God and in the life hereafter. She was a member of the Calendar Club of Cedaredge and was ever ready to aid in God's work. Up until five years ago. when her health began to fail, she was among the first to offer her services in times of sickness or bereavement. Many homes were brightened by her presence. Mrs. Gorsuch had a kind word and a smile for everyone and her friends were numbered by her acquaintances. Funeral services were conducted at the Community church Wednesday afternoon with Rev. J. A. Hunsicker and Rev R. D. Webster in charge. A very large crowd attended to pay their last respects to one who was always respected and honored. Interment made in the Cedaredge cemetery.
