YAKIMA - After a long struggle with declining strength, Orville passed peacefully away May 12, 2003 at Landmark Care Center, one week after his 81st birthday. Orville was born in Bankhead, AL on May 5, 1922. The family moved to Sparta, IL where he spent his childhood after being orphaned at age 8. He joined the CCC's at 16 and enlisted in the U.S. Army at 17. He married June (McGuire) of Yakima on June 20, 1942. They have made their home in Yakima since 1945. Together they raised 2 children.

Orville worked as a postal clerk in Yakima from 1960 until he was appointed Postmaster at White Swan in 1974, retiring in 1977. He kept active following his retirement with part-time real estate sales and volunteer opportunities. Golf was his passion, and he and June spent many happy hours with their friends at the Elks golf course. He was also a member of Mt. Adams Masonic Order, past member of Masada Shriners and First Baptist Church of Yakima for 50 years.

Orville is survived by his wife of 60 years, one son, Michael J. Willingham (wife, Amada), one daughter, Jessie R. (Patty) and her husband, T.J. McManus, all of Eugene, OR, one grandson, Jordan Heintz (wife, Erica) of Long Beach, CA, two granddaughters, Jamie Coy and Elise Bales, both of Eugene and two great-grandsons.

A special thank you for all the loving care and compassion provided by the staff at Landmark Care Center.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31st, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 515 E. Yakima Ave. Private family committal will be held in Oregon at a later date in June.
