Billy Don Collins of Nacogdoches passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at his home at the age of 69. He was born August 30, 1951, in Nacogdoches to parents John Olind Collins and Lillie Ray (Norton) Collins.

Don graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1969 where he met the love of his life, Debbie Rogers. They were married December 19, 1970 in Nacogdoches. He worked at the Ford and John Deere Tractor stores before opening his own business, E-Tex Hydraulic Supply in February 1981. In February of 2000, he closed the shop to help take care of his parents and raise cattle.

God blessed him with three beautiful daughters, three wonderful sons-in-law, and 6 amazing grandchildren that he loved more than life itself. His foster son Scott and his family have been a blessing to him for the past five years. Don served as a Deacon at Gravel Ridge Baptist Church where he also led the music. He loved working with the youth and senior citizens.

Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, John & Ruthie (Pitts) Collins; and maternal grandparents, Minor & Sula (Cooper) Norton.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020, with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. The service will be officiated by Bro. Bobby Russell. Interment will follow at Eden Cemetery in Douglass.

If desired, memorial contributions can be made in Don’s name to Gravel Ridge Baptist Church or to Affinity Hospice of Lufkin.
