John was born on April 7, 1842 to George Damron and Mary Ann Lowe in Hardeman Co, TN. He married on July 13, 1865 to Mary Ann Allison (1841-1927). They became the parents of 11 children. John died Jan. 24, 1931 in Konawa, Seminole Co, OK.
On the 1860 census, John can be found in the household of his parents in Village Township, Jackson Co, AR. He enlisted for the Confederacy at Camp Price, (I think that was in Jackson Co), AR. From Edward G. Gerdes' Civil War page:
