Augusta Jordan, of Katemcy, passed away on Friday, November 20, at the age of 101.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her son John Jordan and wife Connie of Mason; a brother Charles Lindy Lange and wife Rosie of Mason; a sister Dorlene Elsie Mohler of Odessa; two grandchildren, Rebecca Dillow and husband Brad of Andrews; and Scott Jordan and wife Susan of Mineola; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Dillow and wife Bailey, Logan Dillow and Brooklyn Dillow.
Augusta was born in Katemcy on December 20, 1918 to August Lange and Hazel L. McWilliams Lange. She was raised in Katemcy and graduated from Katemcy High School. She then attended college at Southwestern in Georgetown and at the University of Texas.
On January 19, 1946 she married Miles “Swede” Jordan. Together they operated the Katemcy store and post office and also ranched. She was a member of the Mason Church of Christ. Augusta liked to sew, quilt and garden and she was an excellent cook. In her spare time she enjoyed walking the creek looking for arrowheads and interesting rocks.
Funeral services for Augusta Jordan will be held graveside at the Bethel Cemetery on Monday, November 23, at 2:00 p.m.
