Ardelle "Dolly" Barlow Acker passed away on September 11, 2007, at her home in Kingwood.
Dolly was born August 1, 1922. Her parents were Dean Swift and Linnie Mae Sharp Barlow. Dolly was the youngest of five children.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Arlene, Sybil and Nelwyn; and her brother, Fred Terry. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Fred Douglas Acker; and her son, Fred Douglas Jr.
Dolly is survived by her son, Ralph Terry Acker and wife, Karen; granddaughters, Lisa and Julie; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Daniel, Zachary and Caydn. We all miss her so much.
Dolly will be remembered by her family as a strong, independent person who quietly cared for her family. She began her life as a wife and mother in Longview. She and Fred lived in Illinois, Indiana and West Texas following the oil industry. They returned to Longview, where they lived until moving to Kingwood in 1998 to be closer to Terry and his family.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2007, at Memory Park Cemetery.
