US Congressman. He was a doctor in the practice of medicine when he moved to Wisconsin in 1837. From 1840 to 1846, he was member of the Territorial Legislative Assembly and a member of the Territorial Council, 1847 to 1848. In 1848, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirtieth Congress, serving until 1849. Not a candidate for renomination, he resumed the practice of medicine and was elected the first mayor of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1852.
