Memorial services for Kyle Dean Medina, 71, Garden City, will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church Chapel in Garden City. Private burial will be at a later date in Graham United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rice, Minn.
Mr. Medina died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born June 10, 1936, in Santa Cruz, N.M., the son of Candido E. and Ethel F. Jose Medina. He graduated from McCurdy High School in Santa Cruz, N.M. He received a bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering from New Mexico A&M and a master's degree in civil engineering from Kansas University. He lived in Santa Fe, N.M., Washington, D.C., Salina, Lawrence and moved to Garden City in 2005.
Mr. Medina worked for the U.S. Forestry Service in Idaho for two summers. He worked for the U.S. Geological Survey from 1960 until he retired in 1996. He then worked as a crop adjuster in Lawrence. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Garden City and a mason since 1958.
Survivors include his mother, Ethel Medina, Sartell, Minn.; a son, Kent, Ulysses; a daughter, Kimberly Medina, Casper, Wyo.; a brother, Warren Medina, Sauk Rapids, Minn.; and a grandson.

Mr. Medina resided in Santa Fe, N.M., Washington, D.C., Salina and Lawrence before moving to Garden City in 2005. He also worked for two summers for the U.S. Forestry Service in Idaho. He began working for the U.S. Geological Survey in 1960 and retired in 1996. He then worked as a crop adjuster while living in Lawrence. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, had been a Mason since 1958, and enjoyed square dancing, church activities including singing in the church choir, bowling, woodworking, gardening, making things with his brother, and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include his mother, of Sartell, Minn.; a son, Kent Medina of Ulysses; a daughter, Kimberly Medina of Casper, Wyo.; a brother, Warren Medina of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; a grandson; and numerous cousins and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew.

Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel at the First United Methodist Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Brenda Fluellen officiating. A private family burial will take place later at Graham United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rice, Minn.
