The Star-Mirror, Moscow, Idaho, April 3, 1913: "The death of Mrs. Anna Mary Frei, wife of John J. Frei of near Joel, passed away at 1:25 o'clock [Wednesday, April 2] morning at her home, after a week's serious illness. She was aged 72 years, 10 months and four days.
"Mrs. Frei was born in Switzerland but had lived for many years in this country where her children were raised. Seven children and her husband survive, and all were gathered at her bedside during the last hours. The children are: Jacob Frei of Collins, Ida.; William Frei of Moscow; Abraham Frei of Spokane; John Frei of Oakesdale; Samuel Frei of Collins; Mrs. Annie Wallen of Moscow and Edward Frei of Moscow.
"Mrs. Frei was a most estimable, motherly lady; highly esteemed by all who knew her, and honored in her community. The funeral services will be held at the family residence Thursday, April 3, at 12 o'clock, with burial in Moscow cemetery at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon."
