Harriet Adeline Claiborne m. William Cole Powell on Valentine's Day, 1838.

Her son, Albert Theodore "Theo" Powell, entered the Civil War as a 1st Lt. and rode with Major General Fitz Lee, the nephew of GEN Robert E. Lee, and J.E.B. Stuart. After the war he studied law and was the Virginia Commonwealth's Attorney for Dinwiddie County, Virginia for 25 years.

Her epitaph is written on the back of her portrait.
