Clarence Cooper
RIVERTON, Kan., --- Clarence LeRoy Cooper, 75, Riverton, was dead on arrival at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after a sudden illness.
Mr. Cooper was born July 12, 1916, at Girard, and had lived in the Riverton-Baxter Springs area since 1937. He was employed from 1937 to 1952 at the Ballard Mine, Baxter Springs, and from 1953 to 1975 at the Vickers Inc. plant at Joplin. He then became self-employed. He was a deacon of First Christian Church of Baxter Springs. He was a member of Riverton-Lowell Lions Club, National Rifle Association and the board of directors of the Riverton Water District.
He married Lorene B. Shuttler [Schuttler] on April 13, 1940, at Coffeyville. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, LeRoy D. Cooper, Riverton, and Danny C. Cooper, Topeka; two sisters, Ruth Turner, Lamar, Colo., and Nettie Pyle, Girard; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs.
