Mrs. Elizabeth C. Brees was born near Perryville, Kentucky, July 19th, 1850, and departed this life at her home in this city, July 2nd, 1909, aged 59 years. Mrs. Brees was the daughter of A.C. and Minerva Jane Martin, and came to this county with her parents in 1852. Sept. 21st, 1867, she was united in marriage with Mr. C.W. Brees. Six children were born of this union, five of whom survive her, James of Brodhead, Wis., Jesse, Clarence, Albert and Mrs. John Schwartz, of this city, all being at her bedside when the last summons came.
Mrs. Brees had been a sufferer for many years from rheumatism of the heart, which dread disease finally triumphed, despite all that loving hands and good care could do.
Besides her husband and five children she leaves to mourn her loss three brothers and numerous other realatives and friends.
The funeral was held from the M.E. church in this city Friday, June 4th and the remains were laid to rest in Union Grove cemetery.
