Joseph Bartolomeo, age 96, of Warwick and formerly of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. For 73 memorable years, he was the dedicated and loving husband of Rosalina “Rosie” L. (Patriarca) Bartolomeo

Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anna (Ricci) Bartolomeo.

Following high school, Joe served honorably in the United States Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre with the 2nd platoon, 172nd quartermaster baking company.

His experience working as a young boy at Rinaldi’s Bakery led to this duty in the service. Employed as a Supervisor at American Insulated Wire, he worked there for 33 years until his retirement in 1986. Upon his retirement, Joe worked at Price Rite, where he thoroughly enjoyed interacting and talking with the customers.

Joe always found delight from working in the garden. In his earlier days, he loved throwing horseshoes and playing darts. He was a diehard New York Yankees baseball fan and routed for New England Patriots during football season. The only drink that he loved more than a Manhattan was coffee. He always had a special appreciation and fascination for trees and stone walls when out for a drive. Above all, Joe was deeply devoted to his family. With a deep adoration for his grandson, Bobby, he was an amazing grandfather throughout his life. His calm and gentle demeanor made him a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all whose lives he blessed.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by two children: Joyce Colagiovanni and her husband Richard of Cranston, RI and Robert J. Bartolomeo and his wife Audrey of Warwick, RI; one beloved grandson: Robert J. Bartolomeo, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three siblings: Margaret Mikaelian, Thomas Bartolomeo, and Grace Jackson.

Due to the current restrictions, his funeral service and burial with military honors was private.

There will be a livestream of the service on the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home Facebook page on Tuesday, December 1 at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Alzheimer's Association Rhode Island, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906, http://www.alz.org/.
