James "Jim" Frank Colvard, 62, of Ypsilanti Michigan, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 quietly in his home.

James was born July 5, 1954 in Inkster, Michigan, although he celebrated his birthday on July 4th. He attended Robichaud High School. James was father to Nakia Watson, Cristyn Jones, Sarah Elkins, and stepfather to Randy, Wayne, and Jermaine Johnson.

The moments he spent with his children were happy and cherishable. He worked for General Motors for 17 years; after which he obtained his electricians license and started his own business, J.C. Electrical & Design. James accrued many life-long friends during his business operations.

He met Patricia Johnson in 1976 and they were married for 35 years. James and Patricia built their dream home together in Ypsilanti, Michigan. James's hobbies included listening to Jazz music, watching old gangster movies, and collecting coins and classic General Motors cars.

James attended Greater Shiloh Church of God in Christ, also in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he met his church family and strengthened his relationship with God.

He is survived by his three children, Nakia Watson, Cristyn (Allen) Jones, Sarah Elkins, his two stepchildren Wayne and Jermaine Johnson, his mother Betty Colvard, his brothers Mark and Kyle Colvard, his sisters Paulette Johnson, "Dee Dee" Colvard, and Yvonne Colvard, and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father James Frank Colvard, Sr., his sister Vivian Colvard, his brother Kenneth B. Colvard, and his stepson Randy Johnson.

The family extends their thanks and gratitude for the love shown to Jim. They would also like to thank Greater Shiloh Church of God in Christ and his church family.

The Cremation Society of Michigan was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
