Permelia Angeline Deatherage was born to Abner J. Deatherage and Mary A. Marney in Roane County, Tennessee. As a child, she was called Permelia, but she was known as Angeline in later years. Before 1864, the family moved to Tarrant County, Texas.
Angeline was married first to unknown Burnett. This marriage produced one known child, Charlotte Isabella "Belle" Burnett Autrey. Angeline's first husband died during the Civil War, at which time she returned to her parents' home with daughter Belle. It is possible that at some point Angeline applied for a military pension to support her minor child, and this pension application would include the name of her first spouse. However, such a record has not yet been found.
Angeline married Ozias Obediah Rumfield on 11 Jul 1883 in Smithfield, Tarrant County, Texas. Together, they had two known children, Ethel Ann Rumfield and Roscoe Conkling Rumfield.
Angeline died on 23 December 1928. Her will was filed in the probate court in Tarrant County on 2 January 1929.
