Joseph Riplinger passed away at his home on South Ninth street last Thursday.

For five years he had been a helpless invalid with locomotor ataxia. Deceased had lived in Manitowoc since 1852 coming here with his parents when an infant. He was educated at the state school for the deaf at Delavan and was an apt student. His teachers and intimate friends have all asserted that an intellect much above the ordinary, had been handicapped by the lack of the sense of hearing. He never learned to talk, modern methods in that line being unknown in his student days. Mr. Riplinger was a bachelor.

He is survived by a mother, aged 91, and two sisters, Mrs. Aug. Dusold and Mrs. Aug. Nusang, all of this city, and numerous other kindred.

The funeral was held from St. Boniface church to Calvary Saturday morning.
