Edna I. Bowers, 92, of Eaton, OH passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton, Kettering, OH. She was born July 15, 1925, in Amity, OH. Edna was a graduate of Trotwood High School and Miami University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and taught 2nd grade in the Eaton Community Schools. She also served as Health and Recreation Director at the YWCA in Richmond, IN. She was a long time member of the New Hope United Methodist Church just outside Eaton, OH. She moved with her husband, Herman Bowers, to Preble County in 1953. A kind and caring person, Edna made birthday calls for the Preble County Senior Citizens, knitted hats for patients in various hospitals and produced a monthly newsletter for 92 persons describing her activities and adding assorted word puzzles and topical holiday information.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Bowers, and her son, Brent Bowers.

She is survived by son and daughter-in law Doug (Jill) Bowers of Brookville, OH, brothers-in-law and sister-in–law Royce (Donna) Bowers of Richmond, IN, Chester Bowers of Gettysburg, OH; and Esther Williams of Lynn, IN; grandchildren Jennifer (Terry) Necessary, Sarah (Kevin) Keefe, Mark (Abby) Bowers, Rachel (Nathan) Leis and great grandchildren Jerin, Gabriella, and Joshua Necessary, Erin and Owen Keefe, Logan and Parker Leis and Amelia, Miriam and Hannah Bowers.

Friends will be received from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am on Friday, October 27th at the New Hope United Methodist Church, U.S. Route 35, New Hope, OH with Pastor Rodney Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Parrish Cemetery, Brookville, OH. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to New Hope United Methodist Church, 3330 Upshur-Northern Road, Eaton, OH 45320 or to Dayton Hospice, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton OH 45420.
