Chillicothe, IL - Stephen Leigh Beamer, 49, of 218 W. Beech St., formerly of 1114 W. Elm St., died at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 1994, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Sept. 18, 1944, in Creston, Iowa, to Dr. Leigh Sydney and Hazel J. Webster Beamer, he married Jacqueline Down on Sept. 5, 1964, in Mossville. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Sparland; two sons, Michael Leigh of Normal and Robert William of Bloomington; one sister, Mrs. Ronnie (Sue) Eberle of Sparland; and three grandsons.

His father preceded him in death.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, retiring in 1984. He also worked for Eberle Enterprises in Sparland for 10 years.

He was a member of George Washington Masonic Lodge 222, AF&AM, in Chillicothe; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; and Mohammed Temple, Shrine, of Peoria. He was former president of the Shrine Police Unit and was a member of Shriners Antique Car Club. He was a member of Lacon Shrine Club. He was a cancer mount volunteer at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was a charter member of Pearce Community Center in Chillicothe, and was a member of Peoria Casting Club, where he was a former officer.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe.

Burial will be in West Jersey Cemetery in West Jersey.
