Chuck was born on December 11, 1939 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Guy and Bertha (Stevens) McCoy. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1958. On November 22, 1964, Chuck was united in marriage to Linda Henderson at the First United Methodist Church in Centerville. To this union, two children were born, Sheri and Justin.
Chuck worked at the Elevator for many years. He was then employed at L & W Quarries, eventually retiring from there. In his free time, he also farmed. Chuck loved hunting in his earlier years, watching westerns, and reading- especially westerns. Most importantly, he cherished the moments he spent with his family.
Left to honor Chuck's memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Linda McCoy of Centerville, Iowa; his children, Sheri (Rex) Harris of Moulton, Iowa, Justin (Olivia) McCoy of Centerville, Iowa; a brother, Tom (Dana) McCoy; five sisters, Betty DeVore, Marilyn Espy, Helen Stevens, LaDonna Arbogast, and Carol (Vernon) Clark; seven grandchildren, Whitney (Aaron) Ballanger, Chelsey (Jake) Scanlan, Grey (Kaitlin) McCoy, Austin Harris, Lane (Tabby) McCoy, Logan (Shayleigh) McCoy, and Gracie McCoy; four great grandchildren, Adalynn Ballanger, Dayden Ballanger, AnnaLee McCoy, and Baker Scanlan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Bertha McCoy; his Father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Vivian Henderson; as well as five brothers-in-law.
A Public Visitation will take place Saturday, December 12, 2020 from 8:00AM-10:30AM at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with NO FAMILY PRESENT. Per Covid-19 guidelines, masks are required to enter the facility. A Private Graveside service will be held at Sharon Chapel Cemetery, east of Centerville with Pastor Julie Schubert officiating. Memorials have been established to either Sharon Chapel Cemetery, Moulton First Responders, or to EveryStep Hospice, Centerville, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, C/O McCoy family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
