Bernard Edwin Berberich was born on December 15, 1931 to Leonard and Alma (Baier) Berberich in Mulligan Township, in rural Brown County. He attended country school in district #81. In 1953, Bernard was drafted into the U.S. Army training in Ft. Gordon, Georgia. He served 1 1/2 years in Germany during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1955. On September 24, 1955, Bernard was united in marriage to Marlys Kettner. The couple lived on the family farm where he farmed until retiring in 1987. Marlys died on January 1, 1993. Bernard moved to Glenwood in 1993. On April 8, 2000, Bernard was married to LaDonna Jensen. He was a member of the Butterfield VFW and Villard Legion, St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey, and St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Villard. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and his favorite activity was spearing Northerns from his spear house. Bernard played baseball and softball, and coached Legion baseball in Darfur, and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marlys; grandchildren Crystal Savage and Brady Berberich; sister Beatta "Tatty" (Wesley) Mickelson; brother-in-law Wendell Stark, and sister-in-law Margaret Berberich.
