George Dotson Owens, 88, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Harborview Nursing Home in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Monday, November 14, 1932 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late L. D. "Midget" Owens and the late Virginia Bradshaw Nicks. Mr. Owens was a retired farm implement salesman for John Deere. He was a member of the New Day Baptist Church in Kissimmee, Florida. For many years served as a volunteer fireman for the City of Alsip, Illinois. Mr. Owens proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1955 during the Korean War.

Graveside services for Mr. Owens will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating the service will be Mr. Rick Crawford. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Mark Owens of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Tim Owens (Susan) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Phillip Owens (Dawn) of Martin, Tennessee; one brother, Larry Owens of Memphis, Tennessee; one sister, Dossie Heintz of Cordova, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Edith Clark Owens and one brother, Harbard Nicks.

Honoring Mr. Owens as pallbearers will be Larry Owens, Anthony Owens, Bradley Owens, Ashley Owens, Jeremy Williamson and Justin Johnson.
