AGE 74 YEARS
Alan W. Anderson of Stoughton, formerly of Dedham, died unexpectedly Dec. 6, 2020, at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, after being stricken ill at his home in Tenants Harbor, ME. He was raised and educated in Dedham and Hyde Park and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School.
In 1997, he married Ellen Sullivan after a long courtship and they spent many years living in Dedham. In 2015, they moved to Stoughton to be closer to family. Alan worked for General Motors in Westwood as the United Auto Workers Union Chairman for many years, retiring at age 55. Alan and Ellen have owned a home in Tenants Harbor, ME for the last 10 years and he enjoyed spending time at Marshall Point Lighthouse while he was there. He was a gifted handyman and carpenter who excelled in building and designing projects, both big and small. Alan was an art lover and enjoyed listening to jazz, blues and classical music.
Husband of Ellen Sullivan-Anderson. Father of Alan W. Anderson, Jr. of CA, Kellie M. Lamb of Stoughton and Tara L. Anderson of Foxboro. Loving Papa of 4 grandchildren. Brother of Ralph Anderson of Lynn, Bruce Anderson of Bellingham and the late Karen Lynch and Kristine Anderson. Uncle of 3 nephews.
