Allen N. Johnson, 83, of Galesburg, died at 8:10 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2020, in Courtyard Estates of Knoxville.

He was born April 25, 1937, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Eric and Mildred (Fors) Johnson. He married Joan M. DeWeese on November 17, 1956, in Galesburg. After 62 years of marriage she preceded him in death on April 1, 2019.

Allen is survived by his four children, Jane (John) Pritchard of Galesburg, Paul Johnson of Loveland, Colorado, Cathy (Joe) Morrison of North Henderson, and Jack (Lynn) Johnson of Dahinda; eleven grandchildren, Sarah E. Pritchard, John T. (Christin) Pritchard, Emily J. (John) Ruppel, Charles B. (Jenelle) Pritchard, Christopher A. (Tasha) Johnson, Kathryn L. (Michael) Foster, Cameron M. Slate, Jacob D. (Sarah) Morrison, Maddison J. (Patrick) Barnhill, Nichole J. Johnson, and Natalie L. (Jacob) Thompson; ten great grandchildren; one brother, John (Jo) Johnson of Hinsdale, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Phillip Johnson and Paul L. Johnson and his sister, Florence Witmer.

Allen owned and operated Johnson Building Systems and Aarow Construction Materials for many years with his family. He was a member of the Butler Advisory Board and the Ambucks Business Club. He had also served as a board member of the Lake Bracken Country Club and was a member of the Noon Rotary Club. Allen and his wife, Joan were faithful members of First Lutheran Church. They enjoyed traveling across the United States and at locations around the world. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1956.

Visitation will be 9:30-11:30 am Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. A Private Family service will follow visitation with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Cremation will be accorded. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required. Allen and Joan’s cremated remains will be scattered in the Scattering Garden of East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Courtyard Estates of Knoxville or Hospice Compassus.
