She was born on July 1, 1924, in Atwater, a daughter of William Bonney and Mabel Blanch Russell. Dorothy married Jesse V. Berkshire on July 7, 1941 in St. Charles, MO.
She lived her life in Witt, Litchfield, Atterberry, Petersburg and then in Lincoln. Dorothy was a homemaker, a volunteer (Pink Lady) at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, and also worked in the cafeteria at Porta School. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading her Bible and her family. She was a unique person and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by one son, Randy (Dana); one daughter-in-law, Lois (Berkshire) Peper; four grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Kurtz, Michael Berkshire, Jim (Karen) Berkshire and David Wayne (Helen) Berkshire; three great-granddaughters, Tiera (Jonathan) Begley; Taylor Berkshire and Ada Kurtz; two great-great-grandchildren, Hugh Berkshire and Skyler Begley; two nieces, Maralyn Hammond and Bonnie Russell and one nephew, Jim Russell.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; three brothers, Oliver “Bud” Russell, Boyd Russell and William “Billy” Russell; two sons, Larry and J. David Berkshire; one daughter in infancy, Bonnie Jean and daughter-in-law, Barb.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Sat., Dec. 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Tim Searby will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
Memorials may be designated to St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary.
