She was born December 10, 1929 in Elyria and grew up in Wakeman and graduated from Wakeman High School in 1948. Helen had been a Birmingham resident for 70 years.
Helen worked as a cafeteria manager for St. Joseph School in Amherst in the 60's. She also owned and operated Griffin Pet Supply and Boarding Kennel along with her husband from 1975-2000. She also groomed dogs during that time.
Helen loved to go camping and had traveled all around the United States. She also enjoyed politics, sewing, cooking and being with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Randal (Elizabeth) Griffin of Herriman, UT and Kevin (Rebecca) Griffin of Holly, MI; daughter, Linda Griffin of Birmingham, OH; grandchildren Nathan (Emily Hull) Bevaque, Jennifer (Marc) Vrbancic, Vern (Leslie) Banks, and Shawn (Amy) Sorenson; sister, Juanita Kristy; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Griffin in 2004; parents, Cecil and Elizabeth (nee Ross) Ward; brothers, Arthur and Eugene Ward; and her sister, Pauline Zabresky.
Private graveside services were held at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
