Rebecca "Becky" Jean Alexander Swofford
October 24, 1947 ~ September 24, 2020

Becky Swofford was born October 24, 1947 to parents, Lewie Thomas Alexander and Nona Lee Coates Alexander and passed away September 24, 2020.

Becky had two great loves in her life, music and her husband Bill. After receiving her Master's degree in music she taught at the Art's Magnet School in Dallas as well as giving private lessons in piano, organ and voice.

She was a member of the Singles Sunday School Class at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church but didn't remain solo for long. One Sunday she met her class at a restaurant for lunch and there met the second love of her life: William Swofford. Their common ground was their love for music as Bill was also a musician and they discovered she had taught his step-son at the Arts Magnet School. They were married and moved to Pennsylvania and then were transferred to Shreveport, where they shared their love until his death in 2000. Becky was quick to tell anyone that she'd truly married her soulmate when she married Bill.

More than music and Bill, though, Becky loved Jesus and His Word. She trusted Him as her Savior as a child and her sweet spirit demonstrated His Love throughout her life. Bible Study Fellowship was an important part of her life for many years. For almost 20 years she served as organist and choir director as St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Shreveport. Her life and music praised her Lord and Savior.

Preceded in death by her parents, Lewie Alexander and Nona Lee Alexander and her husband, William "Oliver" Swofford.
