David Edgar Faight, 84 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022, following a brief illness.

He was born March 14, 1938, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. South Amherst has been his home since 1963.

He served on the South Amherst Fire Department since 1967, retiring in 2003 after serving as the Chief for ten years. David was also employed at Ford Motor Company in Lorain, before retiring as a supervisor of the paint department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of South Amherst where he sang in the choir. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, great grandfather and Uncle.

Survivors include his children Christine "Kristi" (Dennis) Hevener of South Amherst,David Faight of Mesa, Arizona, Jane (John) Chomet of South Amherst and Jennifer Faight of Linden, North Carolina; his grandchildren Kaitlynne (Jason) Leimbach, Christopher Hevener, Cassandra Chomet, Lindsay Chomet, Wesley Loffert, Darby Loffert, Lydia Loffert; his great grandchildren Bryson, Callum and Gabriella; and his siblings Nancy Criss (Alex) of Texas, Richard Faight (Sondra) of Elyria and John Faight (Debbi) of Wakeman.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-years Kaye "Kay" Frances Faight (nee: Hall) on April 2, 2021; his great grandson Grayson Zachary Leimbach; his sister Sandra Faight and his parents Charles and Margaret Faight (nee: Anderson).

Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
