Born Feb. 7, 1919, near Abingdon to Clyde and Sarah Boyer Olinger, he married Mary Louise Nuckles on Jan. 23, 1937, in Macomb. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert E. of Abingdon and Richard C. of San Diego; one daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Shirley) Sparks of rural Avon; nine grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James, two brothers and one sister.
He farmed near Abingdon for 30 years. He later was a janitor and bus driver for Abingdon School District 217 for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a past member of the Knox County Conservation & Sportsman's Club and the Knox County Farm Bureau. He attended Abingdon Christian Church.
Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
