Margaret Bernice Cook, age 89 of Long Beach, passed away in Gulfport on September 10, 2018.

She was a native of Brookhaven, MS, the daughter of the late Sydney and Mayme Gibson, and sister to the late Richard Gibson and Lula Faye Watson. Mrs. Cook was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Ernest E. Cook and her son, Richard Cook.

She is survived by her four children, John D. Cook (Joan) of Florence, AL, Randy Cook (Cynde) of Ooltewah, TN, Elisa Skinner of Seattle, WA, Michael Cook (Kathy) of Long Beach, and daughter-in- law, Lisa Cook (Ricky) of Mobile, AL; her grandchildren, John Cook of Florence, AL, Angie Welder of Gulfport, Rachel Reddick of Navarre Beach, FL, Master Sergeant Patrick Cook of Baltimore, MD, and Katie Cook, PharmD, of Lexington, KY. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She and her husband owned and operated Cook's Chevron Service Station for over forty years in Gulfport before retiring. After retirement, she worked as a screener in security at the Gulfport airport and finally as a door greeter at the Pass Christian Wal-Mart until the store was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 with a Memorial Service immediately following. There will be a private burial at Evergreen Garden Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the excellent care provided by the staff of the Gulfport Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation at 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
