James Debo Yankey, 80, died Monday, September 2, 1996 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born September 3, 1915 in Washington County, he was the son of the late J. D. and Isabel Henry Yankey. He was a farmer and retired from the Department of Transportation, Commonwealth of Kentucky. He was a member of the Antioch Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Lora Mae Gibson Yankey, Harrodsburg; three daughters, Mrs. Pete (JoEtta) Wickliffe, Harrodsburg, Mrs. Donnie (Brenda) Noel and Mrs. Eugene (Patricia) Devine, both of Mackville; three brothers, George Yankey, Louisville, Billy Yankey, Mackville, and Lowell Thomas Yankey, Cayman Islands; three sisters, Gladys Shewmaker, Mackville, Dorothy Monroe, Danville, Mary Frances Moore, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Zomer, Bryan, Carl, and Wilson Yankey, and two sisters, Grace Cocanougher and Ovie White. Services for Mr. Yankee were held Wednesday, September 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Atherton officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery, Mackville.
