U.S. Senator George E.Green of Binghamton, N.Y. was elected in 1900 and re-elected in 1902. Prior to his election to the Senate, he served 2 terms as Mayor of Binghamton. In 1915 George Green was appointed State commissioner of Excise. A book was written and published in his memory, by the US Senate. He was buried in the Spring Forest Cemetery. George was the son of James Davidson Green, also of Binghamton, and grandson of Samuel Van Buskirk Green. He had one child, a daughter, who died at age 14.Following the death of his first wife, Sarah E.Cole in 1910, he married Adaline Gertude Nash in 1912. She died in 1927.
