William Steel was married to Martha Jane Wesson Presley Steel.

There is no "e" on the end of Steel.

William and Martha Jane married and had a baby girl, Josephine in 1868.

Martha Jane died in childbirth in 1868.

Per the 18 JUN 1870 US Census, Itawamba, MS, William Steel, age 29, born Georgia, 1841, is living with Rosella/Rosann, Presley, step-daughter, 7, Rosalinda Presley, step-daughter, 5 and Josaphine Steel, daughter, 2, with farm tenants; Louis Gentry, his wife Mary and son, Samuel.

If Josaphine Steel is 2 years old, then William and Martha Jane were married before 9 September of 1868 as this is a different marriage license for a different William and "MJ" Wesson. See below.

Per the 1880 US Census, Itawamba, MS, after Martha's death, Rosella and her sister, Rosalinda, went to live for a time with their grandmother, Millie Brown Wesson/Wessen, per 1880s Census. No mention of their brother John Presley.

Per the 1900 US Census, there is a William Steel, boarder in Polk County, TN, working as a day laborer, no date of birth, but born in Georgia.

William Walter Steele, also a Civil War veteran 21389734, from Nottingham, England, born 7 APR 1834 died 23 DEC 1898. This man was not married to Martha Jane Wesson Presley Steel.

TWO:

William Marion Steele, a Civil War veteran 47058940. Born 1839

If this is the William M. Steele on the 1870 US Census for Tallahatchie, MS, then this information is incorrect. William M. Steele married Martha Jane Steele (not Wesson Presley Steel), however, the children are different! This William and Martha Jane do not have a Rosella or a Rosalinda! They do however have Arthur N, William Ida, and Julia G.

There is also a William M Steele that married a Margrett J Wesson per the 1920 US Census, Lee Co, MS.
