JEAN MARIE GIUDICI
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday and friends may pay their respects on Saturday and Sunday for Jean Giudici who passed away on March 15, 2005 at Dominican Hospital. Born in Iowa City, Iowa, she was 68 years old. Mrs. Giudici moved to Santa Cruz as a teenager in 1952, and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1954. She worked as car hop at the Cross Roads Drive In and later for Wm. Wrigley's for 14 years. Jean retired from Plantronics following a 20 year career in electrical technology with that firm. She was a devout member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a very active member of the Italian Catholic Federation. She was also a member of "Mended Hearts". Her family and friends will forever remember her love for cooking and her talents at gardening; growing beautiful flowers at her home. She played city league fast pitch softball well into her 50's and enjoyed being the pitcher on a team that comprised of her daughters as players on the team and her husband and son-in-law as coaches. Jean also loved to travel, particularly to Reno and Las Vegas. Her good natured personality and her joyful spirit will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Don Giudici of Santa Cruz, her daughters and sons-in-law, Elaina and Mike Shanks of Santa Cruz, Loreen and Bill Kathrein of Las Vegas, her daughter, Stephanie Giudici of Santa Cruz, her two brothers, Marvin White of Aptos, and Cecil White of Iowa, her sister, Jodene Green of Wisconsin and her brother in-law, John Giudici of Seaside. She also leaves her four grandchildren: "favorite granddaughter, Amanda, and her grandsons, Sammy, Dillon, and Jonah. She also leaves her great granddaughter, Lexie and many dear nieces and nephews.
Friends may pay their respects at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel (1050 Cayuga St.) on Saturday and Sunday, March 19th and 20th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. A vigil service will be at the chapel on Sunday evening March 20th, beginning at 7 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 22nd at Holy Cross Catholic Church (126 High St.) in Santa Cruz, beginning at 12 noon. A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. The family asks that any remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society, (Santa Cruz County Unit) 1555 Soquel Dr. Santa Cruz, CA. 95065.
