BELLINGHAM - Paul M. Bassett, 85, of Bellingham died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in the Medway Country Manor in Medway.

He was the husband of Rosemary (Pilla) Bassett for 35 years.

He was born in Southbridge, the son of the late Francis and Lisyle (Miller) Bassett, and moved to Bellingham in 1992. He was a 1940 graduate of Shrewsbury High School. He was a 1944 graduate of Boston University.

He was a World War II and Korean War Coast Guard veteran.

He owned and operated Metro West Distributors in Framingham until his retirement in 1991. Previously, he was employed as a salesperson for the Brandt Co. in Wisconsin.

He was a member of the Milford Italian Veterans and Kiwanis Club.

Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Douglas Bassett of Natick; four daughters, Pamela Maher of Sherborn, Lee Guilfoil of Millville, and Stephanie Ann Atanian and Leslie Lana Letourneau of Medway; three sisters; and nine grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Oct. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home (consigliruggeriofuneralhome.com), 46 Water St.

Cremation will take place in the Rural Cemetery in Worcester.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
