Cst. Worden, aged 30, was from Ottawa. He joined the RCMP in 2001 and spent most of his career with G Division in the Northwest Territories. He started Yellowknife and served in Wha Ti before being transferred to Hay River Detachment.
Jodie Worden said her husband was proud of being part of the RCMP. "He often said, 'there is nothing else I'd rather do, I love being a Mountie'," she said.
He also loved his family, friends and the Wilfred Laurier University Golden Hawks football team. Chris was a fullback/offensive lineman and team captain while he attended Laurier, where he attained an Honours BA in political science.
Cst. Worden is survived by his wife Jodie and their eight-month-old daughter, parents John and Mary Ann Worden, sister Cathy, brothers Michael and Peter, and extended family.
A regimental funeral was held on 15 October 2007 at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa.
