Sarah Lurane Brooks was born to Morgan Andrews and Esther LeValley Andrews. She was married to Doctor Ransom Brooks, and they had the following children: Carrie, Charles, Ida, Myra, Ellen, Nathan, E. Alice and Morgan.


OBITUARY: Sarah Lurane (Andrews) Brooks (1830-1910) Mrs. D.R. Brooks died on Sunday, March 6, 1910 in Minneapolis after suffering a stroke of paralysis. She was born in Schoharie County, New York on June 16, 1830. She lived there and Albany, New York until she was twelve years old, when she moved with her family to the town of Brunswick, Medina county, Ohio. While living there she was married to D.R. Brooks (1827-1900). Her maiden name was Sarah Lurane Andrews. Shortly after her marriage they moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin where they lived for five years, when they moved to Mankato in the year 1857. She resided in the town for these years and then moved to the farm north of the city which has been her home until the time of her death.

She is survived by her seven children and one brother and sister. The brother, F.L. Andrews, of Gerard, PA, and sister Miss Meroa Andrews of Medina, Ohio. The children are Mrs. W.F. Coffin of Minneapolis, Nathan Brooks, on the home farm, Mrs. Ida Mead, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, Mrs. G.R. Bradley, Mankato, Morgan Brooks, of Lime township, Mrs. C.H. Bradley, of Minneapolis, and Charles Brooks, of Lime township. She also has twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The deceased was a resident here during the Indian massacre and underwent the hardships of the early settlers. She was an excellent woman and a great lover of home.

The funeral will be held at the residence of G.R. Bradley at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, March 8th. Interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery where her husband is buried and who preceded her ten years ago to a day. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. W.N. Jamison of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
