Francis Howard Gardner, 100, of Pauline, SC, died Friday, September 21, 2007, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.


Born March 25, 1907, in Ingalls, IN, son of Elmer Leander. Gardner (1866–1929) and Carrie Theodocia Olvey Gardner (1871–1942); husband of Myrtle Ann Amen Gardner (1917–2000).


A retired auditor with the Indiana State Board of Accounts, a member of the Spartanburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and a U.S. Army Medic of World War II.


Survivors include a son, Charles F. Gardner (Marge); daughters, Kathleen G. Tamayo and Valerie G. Smith; and a grandson, Daniel J. Smith.


Also predeceased by a son-in-law, Joe C. Smith; three sisters; and brothers, Earl Benton Gardner (1889–1980), Calvin Ellsworth Gardner (1890–1966), Henry A Gardner (1895-), Chester Raymond Gardner (1899-1975), Merton Leroy Gardner (1901–2002), Everett Clyde Gardner (1904-1989), and Horace Marion Gardner (1909-2000); and sisters, Mary Edith Gardner Campbell (1892-1971) and Gertrude Marie Gardner Brooks (1896-1928), and Beverly Lloyd Gardner (1912-).


Visitation was 10:30-11:30 am, Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.


Graveside services followed at Noon at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by Pastor Mike Hill.


Memorials could be made to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Spartanburg, SC.
